CSNBBS Boards | We are Jax State (2024)

Has anyone signed up over there? I have lurked there for years but never joined. To those that have, what has been your experience?

They have a Jax State board but it is still listed under the OVC. And the last post was in 2013 so it doesn’t seem very popular. The OVC talk board is pretty dead as well. The ASUN board seems to have a bit more action.

I want to join because the CUSA board is pretty active and it would be fun to talk with conference rivals. Liberty, WKU, and NMSU seem to have a decent presence there so there will be people to talk to.

But the boards as a whole seem very segregated. If you sign up, do you get global posting privileges or do you just join certain boards?

I have also noticed some boards are very clannish and get pissy if an outsider chimes in with a differing point of view. (Looking at you, UAB board). I have also seen people get mad if someone “downvotes” their posts because apparently a reputation score on a message board has real life applications.

I apologize if this is inappropriate to post here but just wondering how it worked over there.

The only reason there are any posts on the JSU board over there is in 2013 GJS went offline. The domain name expired and wasn't renewed. The host went down and all of the posts were lost. The forum relocated to a free board.

I tried to buy the .com but the domain was snatched up by a reseller and they didn't want to resell. It is currently parked. I bought .net and pointed it here. I need to check on the renewal date for it.

I have considered moving the board to a custom database where we could control our content better when I get the front-end done, but I will have to recreate everyone's user accounts when I do it and existing posts will be here still. What I will probably do at that point is actually manually register every current user on the new board, then create a link to "archive" and point it at this forum so the posts are saved. That will be down the road a ways.

I do have some really cool stuff in the works though. I don't want to spill the beans yet because it could fall through. If it doesn't, the map will have us on it.

I post some and one registration is good for all boards.

UAB has already banned me. It doesnt take much, just any disagreement with a mod could strike you forever. I do negative rep UAB posters just for fun and yes it does upset them. I get it in return even though I received my first. I do have the advantage of not caring.

CUSA board mods will let you give CUSA hell but most others dont allow downgrading the conference repeatedly. The CUSA is moderated by several whos teams are leaving so downgrading CUSA is accepted. No idea when those will be taken off of mod status.

Posters are all ok and several WKU and LT ones are upset with no one wanting their respective schools in the last shuffle. The board has the feel of most conference boards some good info and some "silly" season info or trying to strike up conversations.

The sunbelt fans are the worst. They have deep seated beliefs that the sbc is one rung below the sec. egos you would not believe. Not every person but as a group they are unbelievable bunch of abusive Karen’s. They are one of the biggest reasons to be thankful we’re in CUSA. Why any Marshall fan would want to count themselves in that bunch is beyond me.

I challenge you all to go express an opinion over there and see what happens. It would be especially telling, and amusing, if you post that Cusa is whooping the sbc a ass in bowl season.

I’ve been there since the whole WAC East thing. They were abusive asses then and it had nothing to do with them. And every time there is realignment involving the sbc they always required bowing and stooping from prospective schools as though they had a say.

Because the AAC would not take them. WV isnt desired by any media company. SBC took them because App had options to change leagues but wanted Marshall to be included in their landing spot. App choose schools which were the easier to beat. (ie Marshall and ODU over WKU). The SBC is an App controlled league and their control should only be strengthened.

Getting banned from UAB is probably easy. Actual UAB fans who view Clark as a mere demigod are frowned upon.

If I ran the whole place, I would be actively seeking out mods from schools that will be in CUSA post-2022 and firing those from the departing ones. Getting some from an incoming school would probably help build things up after realignment.

I post there from time to time and read it almost every day.

The ASUN board was just picking up steam when Armageddon hit and JSU was poached by CUSA. Now a lot of the discussion there is centered around who's next and why Kennesaw hasn't received an invite yet.

I still post there some, but I mainly moved over to the CUSA Realignment board. I do a lot more reading than posting, but I do post. The irritating thing (for me) is that so much of the realignment thing is fluid, I feel like I'm contradicting myself from one post to another. In some cases, yeah, my opinion has changed, but in others, it's a different answer based on the context of the question. Meh. I don't care. It's fun.

The "reputation" system is nice from the standpoint of keeping things reasonably on topic. Idiots who get on and do nothing but bad mouth stuff are often downvoted to oblivion. It's not perfect, and having each school provide their own moderators means you run into situations like UAB... where one comment taken the wrong way by a single admin can get you blocked. But on the whole, it's not bad.

As I've said here (and at GJS) multiple times, I get on sports boards for a break from the tedium of work and/or the politically charged crap on other social media. I don't get into trash talk (though there are boards for that on CSNBB) and I don't really go to other teams' boards much at all. If making enemies were my goal, I would never have left GJS.

I signed up yesterday. It shows me on the list of members on line when I go there. But I can’t post. I get a message saying my account hasn’t been verified.

I get it is a holiday. But I saw a thread where it said some people have been waiting a month for approval. So what’s the deal?

Just went and I was no longer listed as being on line. So I tried to sign in and it said I used an invalid username/password combination.

For such a huge message board, they need to get their act together. Never got an e-mail when I registered. (I did check my spam folder).
